Procedure for responding to allegations of abuse

If concern is held about the welfare of a child, young person or adult, the person who has the concern has a duty to report and respond.

A written record must be made of the concern using the Safeguarding Record Sheet and the concern should be reported to one of the safeguarding leads within 24 hours.

If the suspicions implicate both the Safeguarding Co-ordinator and the Deputy, then the report should be made in the first instance to: Thirtyone:eight (0303 003 1111), the police or social services.

If a child, young person or adult is in imminent danger of harm, a referral should be made to the police (999) or the Social Care team (0300 123 2224).
