The children started by making some very shiny stars. It was a bit fiddly at times, but the kids all did a great job, and it was lovely to see them helping each other with some of the tricky bits!
They played a game where the children were split into 3 groups around the room. Each group had a message to get to the other groups, but they weren’t allowed to move from their space, and they weren’t allowed to shout! Needless to say, none of their communication attempts were very successful! Once the rules were changed and a messenger could be sent, it was a lot easier to get the right message to each group.
After this they talked about all the messages that God sent to people through the Christmas story. There were a lot of angel appearances (sometimes in person, sometimes in dreams), but God also spoke to the wise men by putting a star in the sky! However God communicated, he wanted to make sure that the right people heard about the birth of Jesus.
Think about: These days, we have LOTS of ways to send messages! How many different ways can you think of? Choose one of these ways to send a message to someone about the Nativity Service on Sunday 24th Nov – invite them to come along!
