Christmas is coming and Nativity Club has started!
The children began by making some fabulous craft angels. You can see some of them below including a few double sided. We all had fun with water, Lego, dice and rescuing some drowning people. Some children also were brave enough to put their hands into bags of unknown contents to find some Bible verses. We looked at some of these verses found in the Old Testament that talk of Jesus coming to rescue the world even before he was born! The children recognised them from stories of Jesus from the New Testament and they all came true. We talked about God working through people to get these things written down and the promise of a Messiah who would come one day.
Discussion for the week: One of the verses we did not get to read properly was Isaiah 35:5 ‘ Then will the eyes of the blind be opened and the ears of the deaf unstopped. The lame will leap like a deer’. We have looked at some of the miracles of Jesus recently – can you find out where in the New Testament that Jesus healed a blind man and a paralysed man? Or can you remember it well enough to tell?
Think about: what it is like to rescue people. Jesus came as a baby to save the world. Was this easy or difficult for all involved? Think about the difficulties faced in the Christmas story that we don’t often consider.
