Forefront gave thanks for an unfeasibly sunny day as we enjoyed food and fellowship at beautiful Monks Yard cafe and conference centre, on Sunday 13 September – a COVID-safe replacement for the annual “staycation” we were planning to observe.
The day began with a live church service, broadcast in the usual way as a “ForeCast” Forefront Broadcast. With fewer than 30 people in each of two rooms, and full use of masks, sanitiser and spacing, we were able to reflect on rhythms of faith which are rooted in personal worship, family life and occasional “pilgrimage festivals” to meet God’s people collectively.
The rest of the day took place outside, with Monks Yard providing the superior food for which they are famous, and small groups (around six in each) holding discussions and playing games. We closed with a large, socially-distanced circle, enjoying Makaton worship and praying for one another, the church, our district and the country.
