Chard Churches Together, the group to which the Christian churches in Chard belong, is reading the whole Bible aloud, non-stop, outside Chard Guildhall from 7am, Thursday 1st June, to 7am, Pentecost Sunday, 4th June.
Want to be part of it?
You can sign up to take part in the reading and organisation for a day, an hour, 15 minutes, or just a chapter or two. Contact us through your own church leadership, or at the Forefront office, if you want to reserve a time. People who like being up late at night and early in the morning are especially welcome!
The public proclamation of Scripture has a long history; it honours the central place of God’s word and is a great sign of Church unity. We are grateful to Chard Town Council for graciously inviting us to use the Guildhall Portico for this reading. Gideons International will be supporting the event on Saturday with Bibles to hand out to interested onlookers. The WATCH project has contributed by helping to build the booth in which we will be reading. We are using the NIV text, with permission.
