We looked at the story of the Prodigal Son which has many similarities to the story of Mephibosheth (that the adults were studying in the main service). We talked about how this is a reminder to all of humanity that God always loves and is always ready to welcome and forgive.
The children made some pig plates and also some edible necklaces or bangles. This was to remind us that the prodigal son went from eating pig food to being treated like royalty and given jewellery, a fine robe and a party with the fatted calf for all to share.
Think about: Get your parents to read the story from a big Bible. It mentions someone else who was not in our version. Have a chat about that and what you can learn from it!
