Rocks and Topz started off with a game of ‘Jericho drop’ to get limbered up and then heard the story of Joshua and the Israelites facing Jericho. The Israelistes followed what Joshua had told them and what he in turn had heard from God. Even if it sounded really weird! Walking around the walls in silence and then on the last day making as much noise as possible. Their obedience was rewarded with the toppling of the city and a way for them to enter the Promised Land. We watched a little bit of the Veggie Tales video with the walking around and defeat. Then the children made some great mini Jerichos. They also added some red cord from one of the windows to remind them that God also kept his promise to Rahab and her family that they would be saved.
Think about: Why not have a go at learning this week’s Bible verse – Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go. Joshua 1:19. Maybe you can think of some situations you might be in where remembering this could help you?
