We had a super speedy catch up on Isaac’s life from last week’s story (when God asked Abraham to sacrifice him), how he got married, had twin boys and got tricked by his youngest son, Jacob. We then picked up the story of Jacob’s life from the time he ran away to stay with his uncle Laban – who turned out to be even trickier than Jacob!
We followed the story of Leah, the sister that Jacob didn’t really want to marry, and how she felt sad and unhappy until she realised that God loved her. We heard how God used her family, through her son Judah, to bring the rescuer into the world.
We had fun with colouring, a crossword and a rather complicated origami picture, where flaps can be moved around to show either Rachel or Leah.
Think about: We heard about Jacob’s rather unusual weddings! Have you ever been to a wedding? What was it like? Ask someone in your family what their wedding was like – where did they get married, did they have any special readings or songs? Do they have a photo album with wedding photos you can look at?
