God’s Wonderful Surprise

This week in Rocks & Topz, we picked up where we left off before Christmas. The last story we’d looked at was Jesus’ death on the cross. We agreed that it wasn’t a brilliant place to pause, as that wasn’t the end of the story!

This week we read about God’s Wonderful Surprise – how Mary Magdalene and some of the other women went to the tomb expecting to find a dead body, and instead being surprised by an empty tomb and an angel telling them that Jesus was alive!

When Mary met Jesus in the garden, he gave her the job of telling the disciples the good news. And we have the same job, to tell other people the good news that Jesus is alive! We made empty tombs from paper cups to remind us of the story.

One of the kids wrote this great poem using the magnetic poetry set that was given to us this week.

Think about: practice telling the story of Jesus, of how he died and came back to life, and how this means we can be friends with God.
