This week we started with two songs – Who’s The King of the Jungle? and King of Me – and played follow the leader around the playground. Both were clues to the story, where we read about the wise men who came to visit Jesus. Unlike the shepherds, these men were rich and important, yet they left their comfortable life to follow a star because they knew it would lead them to a new king. When they eventually found Jesus, they bowed down to him – they recognised that this small boy was greater than them, despite their wealth and importance.
We looked at some words describing a good king – benevolent, compassionate, wise, just, sovereign, powerful, kind, loving, saviour – and used them in a prayer to say thank you to Jesus for being the greatest King ever!
Think about: how did Jesus lived his life? Did he look like a king on the outside? In what ways did he act like a king? And how did he act differently to other kings?
