Laura's sermon was the last of our series in Proverbs. She talked about how the book uses lots of metaphors and similes to create dramatic pictures to help us understand the impact our words can have.
The verses about words fall mainly into three categories – the positive impacts, negative impacts and highlighting the contrasts between the best and worst ways we use our words. They all highlight the words always have an outcome and they always effect our relationships.
When we use our words well, they bring peace, share knowledge, bring healing, speak truth, give good advice, help others and are backed up by action. We need to have our hearts and minds set on the right things, as the words we speak are a reflection of what is in our hearts.
