Safeguarding Sunday

Safeguarding Sunday is an initiative run by our safeguarding partners at thirtyone:eight. While the main church spent some time thinking about making our churches safe spaces, the young people also explored this topic. What do these items have in common – an umbrella, oven gloves, plasters, shin pads, a cycle helmet, sunscreen and sunglasses? They […]

Weakness and strength

This week, we delved back into the Old Testament for a session and looked at the story of David and Goliath, tying in with the subject that the adults were looking at – strengths and weaknesses. Jesus has time for me!

We started off with a game which ended with a map and we prayed for some of the children of the world. We heard the story of the disciples trying to stop the children seeing Jesus as he was tired and didn’t have time for them. Jesus absolutely wanted to see them! We made some watches to […]

Hidden treasure

We read the story that Jesus told about hidden treasure. The man who found it sold everything he had so he could buy something even more valuable. Jesus was teaching about God’s kingdom (anywhere where God is king) and how being with God is the most important thing in the world – and worth so […]

A big lunch

Rocks and Topz talked about some of the impossible things that Jesus did. Last week he calmed a storm just by talking to it, and this week he fed 5000 people with one packed lunch! The children were all familiar with the story, but enjoyed having their own version of the picnic – bread rolls […]

Calming the Storm

We had a fun ‘storm’ game which saw fish and figures flying all over the ocean and then read the story of Jesus calming the storm from our Jesus Storybook Bible. How amazing for the disciples to discover that Jesus could also control the weather! We chatted about how we might have felt – stunned, a […]

The Flowers and the Birds

The children added some fabulous flowers and birds to our chalk picture and we also played a game of Bird Bingo. We heard the story of ‘The Singer’ in our Jesus Storybook bible which is about Jesus telling the people how we are more important than the birds he feeds and the flowers he clothes. […]
